History Hop Paleolithic Style

Thanks Leah, for hosting this wonderful weblog. You chose such an unusual but great
theme. I learned a lot about the people, their art and their way of living
in the Paleolithic period . It was fun, creating some 2015!!! jewellery,
based on that era. I
t was not easy, it was quite a challenge!

When you know me a little, you know that I’m fond of designing bracelets :-)
So here is another one. May I introduce bracelet Ayla to you…

The components are some small meteorites and glass beads.
All made by me. I used colours as seen in the rocks of places I visited in the past,
and in pictures I’ve seen on the internet. I did try to make a little Venus
and an hand axe, well…  a sort of, fom that period.

The ring topper is made of glass as well, I gave it a ‘prehistoric look’.

I even tried to do some rock painting. On a shell,  it can be a pendant…

Shells were used as a type of jewelry during that period, it inspired me to
decorate one in this special way!

1st Annual - Danse Macabre Blog Hop - 17th. October 2015
Dear Lee, our hostess, thank you so much for organizing this special Blog Hop so well,
in spite of your health issues, you did a great job. Wishing you all the best!

For all my American / English  FB-Friends, this will be a very awkward  blog post maybe...
Where’s the special Halloween part, the pumpkins, the skulls, spider webs?

Well, here in The Netherlands we don’t (yet) celebrate it in that spectacular, playful
and colourful way as in other parts of the world…  So nothing like that today!

Danse Macabre a Chapelle in Brittany painted between1483 and 1501
I did some research into history (-: According to the legend, "Death" appears at
midnight every year on
Halloween. “Death” calls for the dead from their
graves to
dance for him while he plays his
fiddle  (represented by a solo violin).
His skeletons dance for him until the rooster crows at dawn, when they must return
to their graves until the next year…
“Death” dances with everybody, the rich and the poor, a queen, a maid, a pope,
an
emperor, a king, child, and a labourer...

Danse Macabreis a  piece of orchestral music, written in 1874 by the French
composer Camille Saint-Saëns. I
t is an artistic genre of late-medieval allegory on
the universality of death: no matter one's station in life, the Dance of Death
unites all. Produced to remind people of the fragility of their lives and
how vain were the glories of earthly life.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

That was my inspiration for designing a little little bracelet…

I used some pearls, ruby’s, moonstone, lapis lazuli and sapphire to represent a queen or a king,
pewter, lava stone and copper bead caps to represent the maid
and some small pearls for the child…
Because of role of the violin, I mixed a little sterling silver one in my design.
Enjoy the music of Danse Macabre and my bracelet!

And have a Wonderful Happy Halloween!

Welcome to this Epic Inspiration Jewellery Design Challenge and Blog Hop!

Thank you so much Melissa, for organizing this Hop…
I had a lot of fun watching films and movies, you gave me a great time
J
And then came the moment  I had to chose one…
In The Netherlands we have a lot of different  -new- great shows on TV,
but… we have had some epic TV in the past as well!
And so I chose a movie I was quite impressed by in the eighties…
A movie of the life of the King of the Zulu’s, Shaka Zulu.
What an impressive story and what an impressive cast as well!

Wikipedia gives a lot!!! of information about Shaka’s life.
Here’s his story;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shaka

Shaka was raised mostly by Nandi, his mother.
If it was not for her Shaka would have never grown into the man he became.
Nandi was queen mother of the Zulu’s.
Her death had a profound effect
on Shaka and he never recovered from her death.  He went into a deep
stage of mourning, depression and erratic behavior.
This is ‘Nandi’ in the movie:

The picture inspired me to design this necklace

Happy hopping!

Alenka’s Butterflies Birthday Blog Hop & Giveaway

To start this blog with dear Alenka, - here is her weblog - I hope you had a
great birthday and many many more beautiful  years to come!

Like you I missed the blogging too, and I was happy  to find your post on Facebook,
thanx so much for starting and organizing this hop. The Butterfly Theme you chose
is such a lovely one, with a very special and symbolic meaning for so many people.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

Since a few days  it’s Springtime in The Netherlands, with loads of ☼ Sunshine ☼
this week Friday! I love it, and even already spotted some butterflies in our garden
and in the woods near our house…
For the jewellery I made, I used the embossing & deco etchting technique
and used alcohol ink to add some color. The blanks are made of bronze, I
heated the metal to make it a bit easier to work with. Here is the result,
a pair of earrings and of course, a bracelet. There's always a bracelet :-)

There are 19 participants, come and see  how they worked out this amazing theme.
Have fun visiting their blogs and admiring their great work.
